DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL ABOUT
HOW YOU
OR YOUR SCHOOL IS ELIMINATING
ACHIEVEMENT GAPS BY
MEETING THE NEEDS OF THE WHOLE CHILD?
The Maryland Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development
(Maryland ASCD) 2008 Journal Needs You!
Preparations are well underway for the 2008 edition of the Maryland ASCD Journal.
The theme for the journal continues our focus in all our 2007-2008 programming: eliminating achievement gaps by meeting the needs of the whole child.
We are looking for:
- Features describing research-based solutions to current problems in education.
- Program descriptions (from a school or district).
- Brief manuscripts (2,000 to 3,000 words) helpful to practicing preK-12 educators.
- Interesting and insightful treatments of the theme, with practical examples that illustrate key points.
- An emphasis on explaining and interpreting research results rather than on methodology or conventional research reports.
When preparing your manuscript,
- Double-space all copy, leave generous margins, and number all pages.
- Include your name, address, phone number, fax number, and email address.
- Use the reference style outlined by the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
- Cite references in the text like this (Jones, 2000) and list them in bibliographic form at the end of the articles. Do not use footnotes or endnotes for references. For other matters of style, refer to The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy of citations, quotations, figures, and facts.
- You may include digital photographs or clip art related to your manuscript. Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to use any photographs or artwork they provide, and should provide verification that all persons in the photographs have given their permission for the photograph to be published.
We encourage you or your colleagues to submit an electronic Microsoft Word file of your manuscript by March 15, 2008, to mascd@towson.edu. We are looking forward to publishing articles that will help Maryland educators to improve instruction for all students and increase achievement in all schools. Good writing!!
